FAQ
What is CineFlow? A web app for planning film and video productions: script, shot list, schedule, callsheets, documents and whiteboards, gear, and cast and crew, in one collaborative project.
Is there a free plan? Yes. The Free plan gives you projects, project collaborators, standalone documents and monthly PDF exports at a limited allowance, and its PDF exports carry a CineFlow watermark. It has no team members and no organisation workspaces, and the three plan-gated AI actions need a paid plan (the help Assistant and the Gear page’s catalog matching are not gated and work on Free). The allowance on every plan is in one table in Billing and usage.
Do collaborators or link visitors need to pay? Link visitors need no account at all. Collaborators need a free account; they count against the project owner’s plan, in one account-wide pool shared across all of the owner’s projects. It counts distinct people, so the same person on several of the owner’s projects takes one place, and the owner never takes a place in their own pool. See Billing and usage.
Can several people edit at the same time? Yes. The script, documents, and whiteboards are fully multiplayer with live cursors, and project pages update in real time. Collaborator presence shows in the project top bar.
How do I share a schedule or shot list with someone outside the team? Create a public read-only link from the page’s Share popover. See Share a read-only link.
Why does my shared link not show my latest changes? Public links serve a frozen snapshot; click Update link to latest (or republish the callsheet) to push your changes.
How do callsheet confirmations work? Email a published callsheet; each recipient is tracked as Sent, Opened, or Confirmed. Recipients confirm with one click from the email or the shared page. The callsheet Dashboard aggregates confirmations across days.
Does CineFlow use AI? Yes, in three places, and all three need a paid plan: importing a brief into a full project, extracting contacts or gear from pasted text and files (AI Smart Import), and converting a marked-up script into shots. They are unavailable on Free and included on every paid plan, with no separate usage meter. The in-app help Assistant and the Gear page’s catalog matching are not gated and work on every plan. See Billing and usage.
Can I import an existing script? Yes: drop a .fountain, .fdx, .pdf, or .txt file onto the Script page.
Can I import a shot list or gear list from a spreadsheet? Not directly. Gear packages import from previously exported JSON, and AI Smart Import can extract gear and contacts from a CSV, PDF, or image. There is no spreadsheet import for shot lists.
What export formats exist? PDF everywhere; plus Fountain, Final Draft, and Outline for scripts, Word (.docx) and Markdown for text documents, PPTX and PNG for slides, and JSON for contacts and gear packages. See Exports and PDFs.
Is there an undo for deletes? No. Deleting shots, scenes, documents, callsheets, or projects is permanent (projects must be archived first and require typing the title). Prefer archiving where offered, and save shot list and script versions before big changes.
Does CineFlow work offline? Partially. You can keep editing shots, availability, scripts, and documents offline; changes queue and sync on reconnect. Some pages are read only offline.
Is there a desktop app? Yes, for Apple silicon Macs and 64-bit Windows. It adds tabs, split view, and automatic updates. On Windows the installer triggers a SmartScreen warning because the build is not yet code-signed; click More info, then Run anyway. See Getting started.
Can I move someone from cast to crew, or crew to cast? Yes, from the row’s menu on the Cast and Crew page. The dialog lists every detail the move clears, with its current value, before you confirm. Cast to crew clears the character name, agent, union status, shot list assignments and per day talent call details. Crew to cast clears the role, confirmation status and per day wrap times. Either direction clears the person’s custom field values. See Cast and Crew.
Does CineFlow work on phones? Yes, the web app has a dedicated phone layout with bottom navigation. PDF exporting for some pages is desktop and tablet only.
How do I change between 12-hour and 24-hour times? Personal preference: Settings, Personalisation, Time format. Per project: Project Settings, Time Display. See Set the time format.
Where do I manage my subscription? Settings, Plan and Billing. Upgrades run through checkout; payment methods, invoices, downgrades, and cancellation are handled in the Stripe billing portal (Open billing portal).
Is there a student discount? Yes, 20% off paid plans for students who verify a .edu.au email address, renewable every 12 months. See Billing and usage.
How do I delete my account? There is no in-app account deletion. Contact support via Get Help, Contact support.
How do I report a bug or ask for help? Click Get Help in the sidebar footer: ask the Assistant, or Contact support to submit a ticket.
